Jim Bonney is a Professional Acting Teacher, Director,
and Actor with over twenty-two years acting experience
on stage, film and television. He has appeared in
numerous soap operas including: Another World,
All My Children, As The World Turns, the Doctors,
Guiding Light, Ryan's Hope, One Life To Live, Search
For Tomorrow, and
Texas. Jim also appeared on Mike Hammer,
Today's FBI, America's Most Wanted, and Saturday
Night Live. His film credits include Legal
Eagles, Big, and Preppies. He has appeared
on stage in Men Without Dates, For Angela And The
Kids, Acts Of Love, The Last Mile, Danny and the Deep
Blue Sea
as an Equity guest artist. Jim directed Danny and
the Deep Blue Sea at the John Houseman Theatre,
and Pirates of Penzance at the Herberger Theatre
in Phoenix, AZ.
Jim Bonney studied acting with Warren Robertson, Bill
Hickey, and Pamela Lincoln. He was trained in the Sanford
Meisner Technique by Kathryn Gately, who also trained
with Bill Esper and Sanford Meisner. Starting as a student
with Kathryn Gately, he teacher-trained with her and
eventually co-taught the Meisner technique with his
former teacher.
In 1990 Mr. Bonney created MeisnerPlus®, incorporating
his own unique emotional and body work with the Meisner
Technique. Actors learn the traditional Meisner Technique
enhanced with proven and powerful emotional techniques
that Mr. Bonney has created. Since then, he has been
successfully trained hundreds of actors, singers, directors,
and artists at his own studio in NYC. Mr. Bonney has
worked with many Broadway performers as private clients
helping them to enhance and deepen their performances.
The techniques he has created have also helped soap,
TV, and film actors create unforgettable performances.
Working
with David Greer, a playwright who wrote "Burning
Blue", he traveled to London to work with cast
members at the Royal Haymarket Theatre.
Jim
Bonney's students have gone on to have careers in the
arts. A former student, Dan Cooney, recently graduated
from Yale Drama School and now teaches at NYU, and has
performed in the national tour of Fiddler On The
Roof.
