1: I'm
nervous every time I perform. What do I do about
it?
Use it. Give yourself a space to breathe, unlock
your knees, put your hand on your belly and
breathe down deep. Feel your feet on the floor.
Nerves = excitement. Clear your mind. Focus
on what you want in the first moment.
2: I hate my costar! We are like oil and
water. Do I give into it--my work is suffering.
Never give up before trying all roads. Endow that
costar; pick a part of them you could like. Use
your imagination. See their defenses. Look at
them with your heart. If all else fails, pray
your a-- off!
3: Where do I study acting?
Of course, study with the best teacher. Meet them
and see how you feel when you work out the deal.
Are they sincere, skilled, professional? It is
up to your instinct. I call it a B.S. Meter. Trust
it! Remember that anyone can tell you what didn't
work. Few can show you how to change it for good.
Good luck!
4: Why do I have such problems "getting
into a character?"
It could be many things. Ask yourself the following
questions:
A. Do you understand emotionally the character's
inner life?
B. Do you see the world through the character's
eyes?
C. Do you think & walk & talk like them?
D. Do you expose your resistance to playing this
character?
Write about it.
